Dental Implants

The implant itself is shaped like a screw and is usually made out of titanium or zirconium. As the name suggests, dental implants are surgically placed directly in your jaw. Then, over a period of 3-6 months, the implant goes through the process of “osseointegration” and attaches permanently with the surrounding bone. Essentially, the implant becomes an artificial tooth “root,” replacing the root of your missing tooth.
Once the implant has healed, a false tooth (crown) can be attached to it, restoring your missing tooth. Implants can also be used to support dental bridges or implant-supported dentures.
